    Stripping and Neutralising

    Caustic

In caustic stripping we use soda to remove the paint of the wooden or metal item. We place the piece into a tank with caustic soda where the item stays for about 30 minutes. Once the piece is taken out of the tank it gets washed to remove any residue. Caustic stripping is recommended for elm and pine wood because of their high density and resistance to caustic stripping.

    Non Caustic

Non-caustic stripping includes applying a non-caustic stripping agent to the items and washing off the residue. We recommend non-caustic stripping to more sensitive types of wood such as oak, walnut and beech in order to avoid warping, cracking or colour changes.

    Hand Stripping

Delicate pieces with plenty of details are stripped by hand to carefully remove the paint from any corners of tiny ornamented features on the wooden furniture.

After the stripping processes, the items are dried in the dehumidified room.

    Surface Finish

    Cleaning and Sanding

After the stripping we clean each item if there is any paint left on it. Then we sand them to get a perfectly smooth finish. Cleaning and sanding is done by hand to ensure that there are no colours left in the corners paying attention to details.

    Waxing or Oiling

As the last step of the process, choose a Danish oil or a wax layer to protect the furniture. Both the oil and wax are of natural colour to keep the natural look of the wood grain.

    Paint Removing Order Process

Placed an order through our page and wondering what happens next? Here are the 3 easy steps to follow in order to know what to expect from us.

    Step 1

Once order is agreed upon and placed:

    • Within 24 hours, you will receive a call on the number or email provided
    • We need to confirm collection address
    • We need to confirm pick up details

    Step 2

Expect our call one day before the pick up. In this call we will define:

    • A 2 hour time slot to expect us within.
    • Make sure to have your doors taken off within that period, unless agreed differently.
    • Our team is always prompt and on time, however, sometimes unexpected delays can happen, such as traffic jams, that can detain us and make us late.
    • There is an option to leave furniture in a safe place for collection if you are not going to be home.

    Step 3

Once the items for stripping are collected:

    • Expect delivery in 2 weeks.
    • Expect a call 1 day before delivery to agree on the delivery time.
    • Payment can be done on delivery.

    Note

Some of our customers require a front door stripping that needs to be done within the same day dependent on location. This is usually required for external doors and we offer that service, however, you will be charged extra for it.

When a customer is not satisfied with our work on delivery, we can take it back to fix anything which can be fixed. We are a paint stripping company and are not responsible for the quality of the wood or metal that we strip. This refers to the fact that if a material is damaged during the stripping process it is because of its quality, not because of our work.

The basic strip and neutralising process we offer don't guarantee 100% paint removal because it depends on the condition of the objects for stripping. On the other hand, with the non-caustic stripping method we guarantee 100% paint removal.

    Terms and conditions
    • - Our turnaround times are approximate
    • - We cannot guarantee 100% paint removal with the basic stripping service as it depends how the doors take to the service
    • - We try our best to stick to our collection / delivery time slots but these can alter depending on logistics
    • - We do not take liability for any glass or furnishings left in / on furniture
    • - We cannot be held responsible for the finish of our doors not matching other items of your furniture
    • - Due to the nature of our business prices quoted are subject to change
    • - Any failed collection / delivery on the customers behalf will be charged accordingly.
    • - Any tiles, brickwork or ornament details left of fireplaces are done so at your own risk, we do not take liability for loss or damage of these parts.
    Questions and Answers
A: For your oak chairs, we recommend the non-caustic stripping method, which is more gentle than caustic stripping. This especially applies to oak objects that can be ruined if not handled properly.
A: Yes, we can do. We can strip it with a non-caustic strip, clean and sand, or fully finish it as well. We guarantee that the piece will be 100% clean and the wood won’t be damaged since the non-caustic stripping method is less harsh.
A: Yes, we strip both wooden and metal garden furniture.
A: For hardwood doors we recommend the non-caustic strip. Oak wood is not strong enough to go in the tank with chemicals that might ruin the wood. Also removing varnish will require the non-caustic strip, fully clean and sand which can be further fully finished with wax.
A: Yes, we can do that. We are very careful when it comes to glass and usually don’t have a problem, but we can’t give you a 100% guarantee that the glass won’t get damaged during the process or the transportation.
A: Yes, we can strip it with the non-caustic strip, which is less harsh, and fully clean and sand the doors, finishing them with wax/oil.
A: The best service to paint your door is to previously have it fully cleaned and sanded. With the sanding process, we bring back the natural colour of the wood. Everything depends on what the colour of the wood is.
A: Yes, we strip spindles, and the price is per piece. We offer 3 types of services. The first is just dip and strip, the second is including the cleaning and sanding, and the last one is completely finished with wax or oil.

      Wendy Allen

I was delighted with the results on my wooden cabinet I achieved with Oak & Pine Door Stripping. Apparently, it didn't strip well on dipping, so the guys rubbed it down and finished it off by hand - at no extra charge. It's come up really well. The office staff are really efficient and responsive and the collection and delivery service was second to none. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Carol (Blackheath)

We have recently had several pieces of Oak furniture stripped with excellent results, the collection, return and cost were precisely as forecast and the finish really is brilliant and allowed us to direct apply a lime wax paste. Likewise the Drivers were very accommodating in assisting us to remove and relocate the furniture. Well done and thank you.
